A war between Shadow Company and Konni Group is coming. Warzone Season 05 is expected to release on August 2 and with it comes the reveal for Modern Warfare III through an in-game event that will see players team up with Shadow Company and Task Force 141 to put a stop to a chemical attack by the Konni Group. But who are the Konni Group?
First Contact - Modern Warfare II Campaign
On August 12th, 2022, the Konni Captain and Konni Group operatives working for the Ultranationalists, who are now believed to be led by Vladimir Makarov, intercepted an American military convoy in Al Mazrah in the United Republic of Adal. The Convoy was part of an operation conducted by General Shepperd and executed by Phillip Graves' Shadow Company. The mission was to deliver 3 ballistic missiles to American allies fighting Russia in the Middle East.
The Konni Group ambushed the convoy, eliminating all of the Shadow Company operatives before stealing the ballistic missiles. Upon learning about the nature of the operation through hijacked Shadow Company communications. Russia gave the missiles to Hassan Zyani, who was planning to directly attack the United States in retaliation for their role in the death of Iranian General Ghorbrani a month earlier.
Warzone and DMZ
Following the Battle at the Los Vaqueros Headquarters in Las Almas, Konni operatives on Ashika Island would be targeted by remnants of Shadow Company forces, with Konni operatives remaining active within the combat zone of the isle.
Since 2023, Konni has expanded its operation around the globe and found significant success. Several accomplishments during this time are driving Al-Qatala and Las Almas Cartel out of the Koschei Complex, wiping out both organisations operatives in the process. They have now also successfully ousted Shadow Company and their commander, Velikan, from Building 21, seizing control of the secret research facility.
DMZ Crown Faction
The DMZ Faction 'Crown' was first introduced in Season 02. Crown Missions took players to both Koschei Complex and Building 21, gathering intel, testing weaponry, and eliminating Al-Qatala and Las Almas Cartel. It was revealed that Crown is actually the Konni Group acting undercover. It is likely that Crown missions will be removed going into Season 05 as they technically don't exist now we known Konni Group was behind it.
Konni Group Influence
The Konni Group can be easily identified by the red items on their clothing such as armbands and scarves. They have been spotted on Vondel and Ashika Island fighting against Shadow Company operatives. They have now assumed control of both Koschei Complex and Building 21. They have seen great success against Shadow Company, Al-Qatala and the Las Almas Cartel and asserted their dominance in all DMZ regions.
Modern Warfare III
The Konni Group are a Russian Private Military Company that was hired by the Ultranationalists, another PMC that is believed to be led by Vladimir Makarov. Makarov is tipped to be the main villain in Modern Warfare III. He was teased to be returning at the end of the Modern Warfare II Campaign when his men hijack a plane. Remember, no Russian.
Warzone Season 05
Warzone S05 will have Task Force 141 team up with Shadow Company to do battle against the ever growing influence of the Konni Group. Philip Graves has returned from the dead and with the help of the 141 hopes to take the Russian backed PMC down a peg or two.

Modern Warfare III is expected to be revealed during this season with an in-game event taking place that will see Shadow Company capture and defend ballistic missiles against the attacking Konni Group forces. This event will take place below Al-Mazrah's Zaya Observatory in the T1 Bunker. It isn't entirely clear if this will be hosted in Warzone or DMZ although leaks suggest the latter.
Summary
Konni Group are a Russian PMC who are backed by Makarov's Ultranationalists. They ambushed Shadow Company and obtained 3 Ballistic Missiles that are likely armed with Chemical compounds researched in B21 and Koschei. They tricked the player into doing their work under the guise of 'Crown' faction since Season 02. They have assumed control of both Koschei Complex and Building 21. SC and Konni continue to fight for control of Vondel and Ashika Island. Konni is prepared to launch a chemical attack from Al-Mazrah that players must stop.
