DMZ will return in Call of Duty 2026 according to new recent leaks. This isn't the first time in the last few months that we have seen rumblings of the popular extraction mode returning but this seems to further confirm earlier leaks were accurate.
DMZ was Call of Duty's attempt at the popular extraction-mode genre that was cancelled in late 2023 leaving fans surprised and asking for the mode to return. Although it is yet to be officially confirmed, several legitimate leakers have now shared the news that it's coming back.
DMZ Will Return in Call of Duty 2026 According to Recent Leaks
We reported this story back in September of 2024 after trusted X leaker @CODWarfareForum posted several images showing DMZ strings in the Call of Duty files that shows the extraction mode would be returning in the next Infinity Ward title. Another legit leaker, @TheGhostofHope has today shared on X that DMZ will be returning in Call of Duty 2026 as the titles "third gamemode".
DMZ was a hit with players with many still playing it now, some 420 days after it was officially abandoned by Infinity Ward as they moved onto their next game and Sledgehammer Games and Treyarch released Modern Warfare III and their take on extraction with Modern Warfare Zombies.
It remains unclear how DMZ will be connected to Warzone this time around or if it will continue to be supported beyond Infinity Ward's next game. We've now had two extraction modes from Call of Duty in recent years and both were dropped within a few months of release which might have left players disappointed.
