Microsoft Are Raising Xbox Game Pass Prices Just Before Black Ops 6 Releases

Following months of speculation and rumors, Microsoft has confirmed the price hike for all tiers of its Xbox Game Pass, introducing a new "Standard" tier in the process just in time for Black Ops 6.

Beginning July 10, the monthly cost of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will increase from $16.99 to $19.99, marking a $3 hike. Similarly, PC Game Pass subscriptions will see a rise from $9.99 to $11.99 per month, while still providing access to day one releases.

It has been noted that a new "Standard" tier will be introduced to Xbox Game Pass at a monthly cost of $14.99, which will not feature any Day One releases. Consequently, titles such as Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, a significant factor behind the new tier and price increase, will not be accessible under the Standard subscription.

Existing subscribers to Xbox Game Pass for Console at $10.99 will maintain their access to Day One titles, provided they keep auto-renewal active. The new Standard plan is exclusively available to new members.

Regarding the most basic plan, Xbox Game Pass Core — which has replaced Xbox Live Gold — is seeing an increase from $59.99 to $74.99 per year. This represents a 25% hike in the annual fee without adding any Day One titles, although the monthly rate will stay at $9.99.

Finally, regarding subscription extensions, Microsoft has set a limit of 13 months. The new pricing will take effect for current members from September 12 onwards.
