Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is reportedly coming to Xbox Game Pass soon, according to recent leaks. The popular Call of Duty title could join the subscription service within a matter of weeks but which version it will be remains a mystery.
Microsoft completed its acquisition of Activision Blizzard on October 13th, 2023. The tech giant stated that they planned to bring every single Call of Duty title to Xbox Game Pass "at some point" in the future. We've already seen the introduction of Modern Warfare III and most recently Black Ops 6 but every other title remains MIA from the service.
Modern Warfare 2 is Coming to Xbox Game Pass SOON
It was recently reported by InsiderGaming and XboxEra that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 would be added to Game Pass in either April or March of this year. It was previously leaked that a Call of Duty title would hit Game Pass in March, which turns out to be MW2.
It remains unclear which version of Modern Warfare 2 will hit the service. Back in 2020 Modern Warfare 2 had a Remaster but contained only the game's Campaign, no Multiplayer was included. This could be the version that is added to the Xbox service.
It was also revealed that Call of Duty: World at War was close to being added, possibly sometime in May of this year.
Microsoft has been criticised for the speed in which they have been adding Activision Blizzard title to Game Pass but these hold backs are likely due to various licensing issues and updates that each title needs to play well in this day and age, but also be safe for players to play online. Many of these older titles are rampant with cheaters and hackers.
As always with leaks, they are to be taken with a pinch of salt. No official statement has been made by Microsoft, Xbox, or Activision Blizzard that these titles will launch soon. That being said, it is only a matter of time now, as every single Call of Duty is now available to buy on the Xbox Store on PC.
