Treyarch is now longer working on or supporting Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III's Zombie mode but have instead shifted their complete focus to Call of Duty 2024, which is expected to be set during the Gulf War and feature Round-Based Zombies.
This news comes via X (formerly Twitter) leaker @HeyImAlaix. He stated that Treyarch now has little to no involvement with producing content for Modern Warfare Zombies mode.
But, he did go on to say in a later Tweet that development had been picked up by Raven Software and Infinity Ward as Treyarch focus on their upcoming title expected to release later this year in late October or early November.
This appears to have been the case for some time already as we have seen Infinity Ward developers state they are working on Season 2 content for MWZ.
It remains unclear just how successful Modern Warfare Zombies has been which will have a direct impact on the level of content the mode gets for the remainder of the year. If players have dropped off drastically you can expect slow and thin updates.
What remains even more unclear is the longevity of the mode passed the current Call of Duty title. It is unlikely to receive any updates or new features once COD 24' launches as it is entwined with Modern Warfare III.
