Microsoft is changing Xbox Game Pass and it directly affects the release of upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 on the game subscription service for those hoping to play Day 1 for no extra cost.
Xbox Game Pass has always been seen as a great deal for gamers. You pay a monthly fee and you get access to over 150 games to download and play as much or as little as you'd like without forking out a single penny more.
Changes are being introduced to the service in preparation for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6's release on to the service on October 25.
Upcoming changes to Xbox Game Pass that directly affect the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 release
Both PC Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will increase in price by up-to 25%. Xbox Game Pass for Console is being scraped and replaced with Xbox Game Pass Standard edition.
Game Pass Price Increases Overview:
PC Game Pass - £9.99/$11.99 (was £7.99/$9.99).
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate - £14.99/$19.99 (was £12.99/$16.99).
NEW Xbox Game Pass Standard - will be available for $14.99 a month in the future.
Xbox Game Pass for Console will be scraped.
Xbox Game Pass Standard will include hundreds of games from the Xbox Game Pass Library but Day 1 releases will NOT be included with this new upcoming tier.
From July 10, Xbox Game Pass for Console will no longer be available for new members. If you already have a membership with automatic renewal you can continue to use this tier but it will likely be scraped for all members at some point in the future.
All of this means that if you want to play Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Day 1 with Game Pass you will need to have PC Game Pass or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription to download and play on release day.
